Growing up in the house with an aspiring DJ/Rapper, Joey Go had always looked up to his brother LB. After waiting for him to leave the house one night, Joey seized the moment to try his first attempt on turntables. He was only sixteen at the time. After showcasing his skills to his brother a couple days later, he got his brother's approval. Joey then began fine-tuning his skills at blending, beat juggling and just keeping it hot.
During a random conversation about music in high school, he got the opportunity to buy his first pair of Turntables off of his friend Kasseem who had started making beats and claimed he didn't use them much. It was a good deal since Kasseem later switched his name to Swizz Beats.
After deejaying for his brother at numerous studio sessions, Joe started buying his own equipment and making mixtapes from his small apartment on Bivona Street. Back then he didn't even know what those tapes would of started.
Once the tapes got out, people were soon asking Joey to host block parties in his neighborhood. Soon came gigs at Lot 61, Lotus and Shane's Villa. He soon realized he was ten times better than all the other DJ's playing at the clubs. But they were getting top billing. That's when he learned his first lesson about the industry. It's not about how good you are, it's about who you know. That's how you get work in this industry. Then came the moment that seemed to be the icing on the cake for Joe. Virginia State University's homecoming concert, featuring Mobb Deep. Seeing the crowd's reaction inspired him. He wanted to make sure his name was a name people never forgot in this DJ realm.
So Joey got motivated. He started throwing parties and promoting himself in the club scene. It was time to make moves. It was time to make Powermoves.
Joey would like to give a shout out to his brother who has been his support from the beginning and still is today
